ABSTRACT
Nursing was classified by the Health Education Authority as the fourth most stressful profession in the public sector. Objective: the objective of this work was to evaluate stress in Nursing technicians of a clinic of the private sector. Methods: the subjects were 69 Nursing technicians, being 60 female and 09 male subjects. The stress evaluations were accomplished by the Lipp’s Inventory of Stress Symptoms (LISS). The data were analyzed by the Fisher’s Exact and Chi-square tests and expressed in percentile. Results: the largest percentile of stress was 53.33% for the female nursing technicians; regarding the symptoms, there was a predominance of the psychological ones, above all, among the female nursing technicians that presented 33.33%. In relation to the stress phases, there was a predominance in the resistance phase with 40.66% among the female nursing technicians and 11.11% among the male technicians and 6.66% of the female nursing technicians were still found in the phase of almost-exhaustion or exhaustion.
